This lecture will present a brief, historical introduction to U.S.-Argentina legal relations—in particular, the influence of the U.S. Constitution on the Argentinean Constitution. It will also discuss the influence of Joseph Story (U.S. Supreme Court, 1812–1845), who served on the U.S. Supreme Court with John Marshall, on both Argentinean public and private law.

The lecture will provide insights regarding recent cases related to sovereign debt litigation processes and how the U.S. legal system has interacted with the Argentinean legal system in these cases.
